Hi
I am thinking of hiring 4 Sony ex3s for a multicam shoot, how do you sync all the time codes so that in post we can align all the clips up perfectly?
Thanks
The camera has timecode in and timecode out. I haven't tried it with this particlular camera, but the usual method is to jamb synch.
To jamb synch, you set the freerun timecode on one camera and then take that camera to the second camera and plug the first camera timecode out into the second camera timecode in. The second camera should read the timecode of the first and synch up. Pull the cable and it still should be running in synch. This will last from 2 to 8 hours depending on the camera. Drift will be very minor. Repeat with the third camera and fourth camera. You can also keep them plugged in and daisy chain them if you have enough BNC cable.
