Does anyone know, or has anyone done tests, to see if AVC-I Footage shot on a P2 card can be offloaded onto an HDD from an HPX170 or HVX200? I was thinking that if I was in the field and needed to back something up, but was using either a varicam or the hpx300, if the hpx170 or hvx200 could still be used to dump the footage onto an HDD. I realize there is another new product that will do this, but I have far more readily accessible HPX170 and HVX200's out there...

Yes it can. You can't play the footage in a non-AVCI camera, but you can definitely use one to transfer/offload footage.

When I had the 300, I did pop an AVC Intra card into my 170 in thumbnail mode, just to see what would happen. Not only do the thumbs show up, but the format insignia down in the lower left actually changes to AVC Intra. Pretty cool.
