Philip,
Just checked the specs to make sure this one also has the same 'focus assist' HMC700 does. Does the focus assist perform the same as HMC700?
(I had a chance to play with 700 and loved that feature...)

What an awesome little start up camera! Looks light years better than the HV30. Like you said, shame it's a 1/4", but a B cam for daytime/well-lit interior seems totally applicable. I think cams like this blended with some of the newer DSLRs coming out will be an extremely inexpensive one-two punch for the ultra-low-budgies posting to the internet or DVD

Thanks for another great review. I see your point as a B camera, however it also looks very suitable for wedding videos on a Merlin.
I guess i am gonna jump onto JVCpro line for my video business unless NAB reveals some surprises...(I will still need a cinecamera though, fingers crossed for upcoming new ones, or scarlets)

this camera , the gh-1 ... the other dslr's that are coming...etc .. can't recall such an exciting time in the cam/camcorder field :) really feels as though we are on the verge of some major progression at affordable prices...or maybe, just maybe i am talking bollocks !!
