I have shoots where I must record HD footage from my HVX200 directly to my computer hard disk using a firewire. The camera doesn't send data through the firewire in 720 24PN. How can I shoot with higher variable frame rates through firewire for my project.
I can capture HD to disk with the camera in other settings but when I preview the video its normal speed. I am capturing with Quicktime Pro for its ease but have used Adobe OnLocation as well.
How can I do this?

You are capturing DVCProHD footage using QuickTime alone?

As someone who has shot a few interviews "direct to computer", I would suggest you shoot 720/60p and record it with Final Cut Pro. Your footage will be a variable frame rate but you'll have to convert it later to slo-motion.
Happy shooting,

Yes, I have been using Quicktime Pro to record DVCPRO HD directly from my HVX200. Is this bad?

Well, you can only record to h.264 at 640x360.
You cannot record DVCProHD using the QT Pro player via FW.
That's why programs like onLocation, HD Monitor and Scopebox exist.
