I submitted my pitch around noon today, and its midnight now. I dont know how long its supposed to take. I realize that the admins must get lots of PMs, but Ive also heards things about PMs getting lost, so Im just a bit nervous.
Im very eager to get started on writing! My biggest concern is whether or not pitches are still being accepted. I would assume so, seeing as there is still plenty of time left. thanks for your time.

Yeah I am almost certain they will still accept them. It took me like a week to get my clearance from them!

Hi there,
I'm sure they are, I think you might need to allow more than 12 hours to get your reply as there are probably quite a few being handed in right now.
Good luck!

Seriously though, can any mods say whats up? Are things just running slow, or are some of are pitchs not going through? Would it be easier if we sent them to different mods? thanks!

It took almost 2 weeks for me to get my approval about a week ago. Be patient, they are probably just backed up.

I'm not writing a script for this one because I can't see the keyboard that close when using a pen in my teeth.

Ohhh... That hurts :D
But seriously though. When exactly SHOULD we hear from them?
I mean, as soon as i get approved, i can start shooting either that day or the day afterwards lol

I'm going to shoot it regardless. Can't have "the man" stop us from filming now can we.
I'm calling my entry or non-compete if it has to be "The Chronicles of Squiggy: I lost my mind"

Yeah, i think ill just start shooting on Thursday. Gives me enough time to get the props :D
Do we have to wait for the green light start our threads? I've got a bunch of information ready to put up, I'm just waiting on the darned pitch. Why does it take so long to look at a short paragraph and say "Yes" or "No". Maybe I'm just getting impatient, but it seems like its an unnecessary wait time...

Well their probably really backed-up. In my opinion, i think you should write down all the information that you want to post in a small notebook and when you get the word, then make the thread.
At least thats how im doing it :D

It takes some time because mods are people too.

I need to start shooting asap, the sooner the better , I know that mods are people too, but if they can't review all pitches in time why do it. This pitch process is taking time from everybody.

I think i'll start getting the b-roll stuff together and start shooting this sunday. That should keep me occupied

Worst case scenario: they don't accept it, but you already shot..Who cares? You got a film in the bag!
Robbie
I'm not concerned about the pitch holding me back from filming, but I do feel like its holding me back from starting my thread. I have no problem with the idea of the pitch, I actually kinda like it. But they originally said that a response would come in 24-48 hours after the pitch. Waiting a week to only get a negative response (I haven't got one, but its a possibility) just seems a little ridiculous.

We have been trying to get back to everyone the same day, or at most the next day, when a pitch is submitted. But occasionally life gets in the way of "best laid plans" ... sorry about that.
I've responded to your pitch Jake.

hey, guys. I'm replacing my name on the list of who to submit to with Zak Forsman's. You may now submit to him instead of me, or the other people on the list. I've just not been able to get back to folks quick enough.
Later,

Guys please stop submitting "tease" pitches that contain things like
MADE UP "TEASE" EXAMPLE
"Twin brothers Frick and Frak, chess enthusiasts who run a small but renowned detective agency, are excited about the national Chess tournament coming up. Until someone murders the Chess master set to compete there that is. So they set out to discover the truth, but they could never have been prepared to find something so bonechillingly mindbending that came from their very own pasts."
That kind of thing is good for posters and to tease audiences with, give them more questions than answers so they'll see the movie, but not for a Quest Fest Pitch. Like investors we have to know what actually happens. You'll never get someone to option your idea by telling them "a dark secret is discovered" in your story. You'll have to tell them what the "dark secret" is, so they'll know what they're spending their money on.
Here we're not spending money but we want to make sure of two things
1) that the films have a clear throughline this time
2) that what you turn in was made for quest fest
So that requires specificity. Not a lot of detail - there's a difference between detail and specificity - but it does require specifics.
MADE UP REVISION
"Twin brothers Frick and Frak, chess enthusiasts who run a small but renowned detective agency, are excited about the national Chess tournament coming up. Until someone murders the Chess master set to compete there that is. So they set out to discover who killed the Chess master. It'll be a tough case though with the whole Canadian Chess Board trying to hush up the matter. In the end they discover there never was any real murder, they were merely pawns, set up by the Chess master himself to embarrass them professionally because the two detectives were the only ones who had ever defeated him way back when they were all children in Chess Camp."
We're not going to steal your story or publish your pitch, but we won't greenlight anything that is about "A guy" who "sets out to find the truth" and discovers "a secret".
BREAK DOWN
"Twin brothers Frick and Frak, chess enthusiasts who run a small but renowned detective agency,(WHO)
are excited about the national Chess tournament coming up. Until someone murders the Chess master set to compete there that is. So they set out to discover who killed the Chess master. (CLEAR QUEST/GOAL)
It'll be a tough case though with the whole Canadian Chess Board trying to hush up the matter. (OBSTACLE[s])
In the end they discover that there never was any real murder, they were merely pawns, set up by the Chess master himself to embarrass them as the only two who had ever defeated him way back when they were all children in Chess Camp."(HOW WE KNOW IF THEY SUCCEEDED OR NOT)

Well laid out Jack. There is a fair amount of paranoia among the less experienced filmmakers where they are afraid of divulging their great idea in fear of someone stealing it and making their own or making it themselves. In a contest like this filmmakers have to realize that a certain level of trust has to be given (especially) to the moderators in order to streamline things. There have been borderline theme entries in the past, some of them last minute and the pitch process helps to clarify that... but only if filmmakers cooperate.
