Silicon Graphics-SGI NAB '09 Technology Briefing
Come to lunch with us, take a load off!
Contact: Shelly Zavoral, Account Representative - SGI; zavoral@sgi.com; (651) 683-3016
Topics will include high-performance computing, storage, content management, backup/recovery, archiving and visualization. The agenda is structured with a focus on educating, along with time to network with colleagues and manufacturers.
Heirarchical Storage Management solutions with SGI's Data Migration Facility (HSM with DMF--more acronyms anyone?) have been deployed by Weta Digital (shots from Lord of the Rings I were used in II and III, but were n't all kept on online storage at all times...), National Geographic with their film archive library--searchable online at this link: http://www.ngdigitalmotion.com/ (http://www.ngdigitalmotion.com/) and the NBA (HD/Film) for games and historical archives. This highly scaleable solution can help save and make money for those with a 'monetizeable' archive.
