This is Tom from VariZoom and certainly there are some reasons to stay home to work and save money. I realize money is tight and the banks are not cutting loose with loans as freely as they were post bailout but there are some good reasons to go.
1. Flights have been pretty reasonably priced.
2. Rooms have never been cheaper. You can stay at Circus Circus for $59.00 and it is walking distance to the convention center so no cab fare either.
3. There will be a lot of new cool stuff because manufacturers like myself had things well under way before the downturn.
4. VariZoom will have some very cool products/videographer tools this year at the show. We will preview them here as well online.
5. Even if you don't buy a thing at NAB I think everyone comes back a little wiser and usually excited about implementing something new that they learned. So maybe the motivation factor has value for some.
Just trying to stay optimistic. I am fighting the downturn like everyone but I also took a very big booth this year. Those of you that do come to the show please stop by the VariZoom booth and say hello.
