You also have a great price on the HM700. For either camera, does the price include a battery and charger?

I'm assuming that you're talking to spec-comm on that one.

Neither camera at this price comes with batteries or chargers. We have tested and have found with both of these cameras by using our V-Doubler Shooter's Power package it works great and it doesn't break the bank. We also sell these packages for the HPX500 and a lot of folks are happy with that. It also help if you're transitioning from the HVX200 or even the DVX100. You can still utilize those older batteries.

Hey guys,

I know that there are a lot of really good deals going around here and I want you all to keep a few things in mind when making your purchasing desicions.

Our add to cart price isn't the lowest that you can go on the pricing. If paid with a bank check, we'll knock off another 2% which is another $156 off.

Additionally, most of you DVXusers live in NY or CA. We're in MD so no sales tax on out of state orders.

Just something to keep in mind. Please don't just rely on the glossy web store prices but remember the taxes and fees.

Just looking out for you. :)

Well, in California you have to pay sales tax, either when you send in your sales tax to the tax board, or when you send in the CA tax forms. It's called California user tax.

I bought some equipment from B&H serveral years ago, and was also audited by the Cal. Sales Tax board. They taxed me, with interest, for not noting that I didn't pay sales tax from the B&H transaction. They came back every year, for 4 years.

So, it's up to you whether you want to break the tax law, and maybe pay more later on.

Please don't think that I'm encouraging folks to break the law. Laws differ from state-to-state. Please check your state laws to make sure would requirements you have in the particular state when it comes to use tax.

I've been posting this on this issue for years.

If you have a sales tax, your state will have a use tax.

The seller doesn't require you to pay; the state requires you to do it.

As Dan says, it's interest and penalties.

I guess I'm not seeing how HVX/DVX batteries would be useful for a camera that takes Anton Bauer as it's power supply.

I guess I'm not seeing how HVX/DVX batteries would be useful for a camera that takes Anton Bauer as it's power supply.

By themselves they aren't useful but with the V-Doubler by Dolgin engineering it works great. Two Long-Life HVX/DVX style batteries run the camera for about as long as a Dionic 90 and is much lower cost to get up and running. Also, if you are upgrading from a DVX or an HVX then you can still utilize your batteries.

So now there are three options, AB (High-end, Highest cost), Switronix (Mid-Range but still really nice, Mid-range cost), and then the Spec-Comm Shooters Power Package (Mid-Range, Low cost.)

It really depends on your budget and what your situation is at the time of purchase. If you have been shooting with AB and you want to continue using them, then your choice is obvious but if you have had an HVX200 and you want a 300 to upgrade and you have a bag full of HVX style batteries, then you may want to save some money and go with the PP1 package.

Thanks,

"you have a bag full of HVX style batteries" . . . which I do.

Not the way I'd want to go long term (as I'm keeping my HPX170) but one heck of a good start up solution for me.

Thanks Andrew.
