help exporting to avid

I am new to aftereffects and have run into a problem.

I have completed my graphics in aftereffects and want to import the composition into avid mc3 so I can lay it over my video. I exported a composition out the other day and when I imported it into avid I had a matte key: comp 1.mov (with alpha) in my bin. I want to do this again but I don't remember how I did it. all my exports are video files that have no alpha keys. what am I doing wrong? any help would be great.

Are you rendering out of AE using RGB + Alpha?
Are the import settings on Avid set to ignore alpha?

yeah had rgb checked not rgb+alpha. felt stupid when I figured it out. thanks for help.
