I couldn't be more jazzed to be working with Hurn.

Early last week...

Hurn: I dunno- Should we do a big epic Raiders story, or should we make something more personal, intimate?
Callaghan: Dude, you live in New Zealand!! It's gotta be BEYOND EPIC, Mister LOTR-Was-Filmed-In-My-Backyard!
Hurn: Yeah, you're right!

Haha, I don't know what I was thinkin'! Callaghan straightened me out...

But thanks everyone for welcoming us... and I will definitely be paying a little visit to some of those locations from LOTR...

Bit of an update...

Yesterday I spent the day location hunting. It went OK - and found some decent places. Checked out some farm places, hills, parks, stuff with big enough scope to paint over and sell as an "Otherworld". Went alright, but nothing mind grabbing...

Today though I found a better place - It's a few hours out of where I live and it's where they shot the scene in LOTR where Aragorn Legolas and Gimli go to the valley of the dead. Perfect for our underworld. There are some really ancient wierd looking rocks, lots of grey creepy paths...combine that with some talented matte painters and we'll have a picture!

So next weekend I propose to go and shoot some test footage of this place.

Chad just sent me the first draft of the script (And it is flamin' fantastic!) so I'll be back with more stuff later...a poster, and some other goodies.

Lots and lots to do...

Til then, happy pre production to you all!

Chris

Wow! Really looking forward to something 'Epic'. And a collab across the ocean is just cool...Across the ocean? Anyone can collab across the pond...it takes real men of vision to collab across the poo pooing world.
Five hour time difference? HA! Try...ah... (How many is it again, Hurn...or "future boy" as I like to think of you?)
Cheers and thankshttp://www.eddyflower.com/images/Forum/smiley_cheers.gif

Hah! you tell em Cal, it's like 16 hours or something crazy.

Callaghan has already come out with another draft and it looks great. Some really cool things happening!

Been working the last few days on a few things...

-Casting has begun, the headshots are coming in.

-Now in contact with someone from "Film Wellington" which basically helps arrange permits for shooting in the area. Because one of the locations is around a tourist location and near some pretty traditional ground I want to be fully covered. They are very nice at this group and and someone is currently helping us in trying to secure this location. Hopefully it goes well.

-A few new VFX guys have put their names forward to me which is great, now we have an army of people on the post production side of things.

-Also been trying out some practical FX myself at home for one particular shot...

-Still have to get a poster sorted. Started making one the other day but it didn't turn out right so I'm going to try again. Poster making isn't my specialty but it's nice to have a challenge...

That's where it's at right now. Lots and lots to do!
