I have a suggestion for future fests, but not quite sure if it will work out.

If it does, then it could be really great!

The mods will give Chris Messineo (member here on dvxuser, and owner of www.moviepoet.com) a heads up a month before Chris announces the new script contest.

The mods will give Chris the theme, and he can incorporate that into his website if he wanted to.

I know that the site (movie poet) has a lot of scripts that relate to the dvxfests, but imagine if all of them did...And there are brilliant writers on that site to.

Could be some great entries!

We are already able to use scripts from MoviePoet, so are you suggesting that we limit ourselves to MoviePoet scripts for a future fest? I like MoviePoet, but I don't think this would go over very well.

personally, i haven't even used a screenplay on either of my DVXFest entries (IFHY & Mo/Pho). :) and i don't care who claims otherwise, there is definitely more than one way to make a compelling film that resonates with an audience. that being said, there is some standout talent to be mined at moviepoet.com. Why not contact one of the writers you admire there and collaborate on something original, written for QuestFest.

I think he's suggesting that Chris coordinate a script contest around the DVXuser theme so scripts would be generated just for that theme that we could use or not.

I don't know when Chris announces his contests, but we announce the DVXuser fests right at the end of the previous fests which gives about 4 months between contests. So I don't really know what the writers at movie poet would gain by getting an extra month to write a 5 page script.

Also I bet Chris already posts or announces the DVXuser fests at movie poet. If he wants to make it an official part of a contest they run over there in the 1st of the 4 months before people upload here that would of course be cool, but entirely up to him. As I said there's plenty of time for anyone to write a 5 page script given when we announce, and I'm sure Chris lets the folks at Movie Poet know.

Don't think we'd feasibly would be able to commit to announcing earlier than we do know.

And, of course, if they really wanted to coordinate a script contest with a DVX User film fest, DVX User has its own Script Fests (TM)... :)
