News and Notes
April 3-5:39am pac: Four pages into the script and scared. Need to chop down some dialogue for this one. "Just the fax ma'am, just the fax."
April 11-8:22pm pac: Finally got the story the way I want it, biggest problem for me was it wasn't "questy" enough. Now the characters are faced with trials and trouble to shape the story. I'm happy, now I just have to figure out how to fit the treatment into a six to ten page script. I go crazy with dialogue. I could probably make one conversation a feature length movie. I'm so envious of Puck who had all but two pages written minutes after the fest was announced.
April 13-5:15am pac: Yes, yes, yes, the script is done. I've got one actor on board for certain, and two more possibly. So there's one remaining, but I'm sure it will get sorted out soon. Gonna have to trim down the script a bit, running about a page heavy, but I'm not worried. I'm waiting on feedback from proof readers, hopefully that will help with the trimming. Still need a location and a schedule.
April 14-2:19am pac: First official cast member posted, Mr. Duayne Howard, the man of a thousand talents has accepted the role of "Big D" the landlord. I'm extra excited because it's almost as if the character was written for him.
June 09-0:00xm pac: So our first shoot day was a bust. Everyone was on the ball except for the director. With only a table read and no real set ups planned for the DP, the director ended up pooch screwing the day. Now if the short is going to be ready for festival submission there is going to have to be a full recast and location change. It's bad when one of the actors who had read the script for the first time an hour before the shoot knew more about what was going on than the director.

Well, that's still being sorted out, unfortunately that is going to depend more on who the cast ends up being and the mood I'm in during the shoot. For me, scripts are only the navigation of the scene. Leaning towards comedy.

Chad, good luck with your flick! You've got about three months to get it done, so don't sweat 'getting it written in time'. :)
