It loaded fine (FCP) but when I went to open it said it requires AGP graphics card? Could this possibly be true? That would mean no new laptop can run FCP 4.

Wait, you bought a new professional laptop in 2009 and want to install an application from 2004?

Why not buy the application that was made for that hardware? You buy the resources but don't use them by installing FCP4 instead of 6. At this point you might as well wait a few months to see what Apple plans to offer.

You know they stopped putting AGP slots in motherboards for years now right?

This is picture (http://s5.tinypic.com/311sady.jpg) explains your problem.

Final Cut 5.1.4 was the first version to work with Intel Macs.

There was a cross grade that ran about $99.00 that was available for nearly two years but no longer is. My guess is that your upgrade will be about $699.00.

Version 4 of the application was announced in April 2003. That's six years ago

My Bad, I have the 6 upgrade just got alittle ahead of myself. It's been awhile.
Is not meeting the recommended screen setup of 1024 wide (the MBP 15" is 1440 x 900) a big problem?
