Audio levels on the EX1!

When I plug our shotgun microphone into line 1 and set up the camera to record line 1 on both tracks, I get a higher recording level on line 1 than on line 2 despite the fact both record volumes are set evenly. Is this normal?

There might be some tolerence in the analogue knob of the record volume. What happens if you set the audio to auto levels? Do the audio levels on each channel match?
