I was trying to capture some footage today that was shot in 24p advanced. I was importing to Premiere Pro CS4 widescreen 24PA setting with Adobe. My camera was plugged into the charger and I was using the charger battery to power the camera (as to not waste my battery). Every time I tried capturing this way I had major problems with dropped frames always 3 at a time in varying time increments. As soon as I unplugged from the wall and used ma battery EVERTHING was fine...WEIRD. I never dropped a frame after i unplugged. What would cause that? Was there too much power in the battery extension? Has this happened to anyone else?

Probably fluctuations in the wall power. The converter will smooth out some of it, but it can be a factor.

I personally just use a cheap sony handheld to capture footage to preserve my tape heads. Any MiniDV camera will work.

There's no harm in using a dedicated capture cam; better is a true deck. But you're not gonna murder your DVX by capturing with it. :)
