hello everyone.
i'm new here. and new using FCP.
so i've got one issue, one terribly one.
basically i import few .AVI sequences to COMPRESSOR (from a D90)
i export them in Prores 422. They look great once converted in .mov
so far everything's ok.
i start doing the cut into the timeline and all, apply a black & white effect + curves overall then reimport the whole sequence into FCP.
again, so far everything's ok.
Then i tried to export the whole stuff to a quicktime sequence, just to see how it looks... and badaboom.
The image quality is really bad, like twice less the size or much less from the original .mov files, and i do not talk about the sound!
What can i do to fix this?
Please, help me on this one.
I know this one sounds really stupid or somethin, but that kills me right now! :)
Big up everyone in advance, really.

What are you sequence and export settings, frame rate, codec, etc. FCP's output quality is only what you tell it to be.

Yeah, I am going to echo NoahK. It sounds like you need to either 1) Output via compressor to be as specific as possible with your output settings or 2) specify your settings in the QT output. Just take your time and double check it; I am sure you just glossed over a few details in the export process.

If you did a QuickTime conversion, what settings did you use?
Because exporting QT/Current settings will provide a copy of your sequence.

hello, first sorry for the delay, i didnt have one free minute during the last couple of days.
So i exported all the sequences in mov/quicktime with the prores 422 codec in compressor before put them in FCP. i repeat myself: when i look with anyplayer the sequences exported, they look as big and as good as the non converted ones, it's really under FCP that i've got a smaller PREVIEW and a shitty/really bad quality when i export the project into a single video. Of course i'm totally new into it.
If u wanna talk about JPG, RAW, TIFF, whatever, we could talk for hours. now, in this art, qualifications, i'm really nowhere.
ANYWAY,
here's the main infos i can see in the files infos (more infos windows from Finder - also i do not use mac usually :/)
quicktime sequence
1280x720
apple prores 422 (HQ)
the seq is 01:14 longer and the total debt (its not in english ;p) is 82.078
so i guess i just fked up something in FCP.
i don't know where to do the settings yet. well, those settings.
and again, it will be much appreciated a lil help just like u did before :)
really.
peace out, g

Ok....I'll say it...cause everyone else is thinking it....don't say "peace out, g" it makes you seem amateurish and people won't take you seriously.
As far as your issue, you need to match your footage to your sequence settings. What is the raw footage? HD? If so is it 720p, 1080i? 24p? 30p? etc. Or is it SD. Your sequence says that it's 1280x720 but did you select that or did you place the footage in the sequence and select "yes" when it asked you if you wanted to sequence to match the footage.
It may be obvious but check your sequence settings (command + 0) make sure that under "Quicktime Video Settings" that the "quality" slider is at 100%
