I shot in 720 24p with a HVX200 at a club with low light issues. Now, that I'm editing it...I was wondering what are the ways of getting rid or correcting some of this "low light grain".
Can I do it in FCP OR do I have to use "plug ins" to do this?
If so, what are the best plug ins to use and what are the steps?
This is not for YouTube, but will be submitted and shown in Festivals, so I need the best quality. Any help would really be appreciative.
Thanks.

Neat Video is great for doing this, I highly recommend checking them out. Right now, the plug-in only works in After Effects on the Mac. On the PC, there are more hosts available. Hopefully there will eventually be an FCP version. But I do recommend going to their site and checking out their before/after examples ( http://www.neatvideo.com/examples.html ) and then download the demo. You can process your footage and see what kind of results you get before deciding whether or not to buy (it watermarks your clips).
There's also RE:Vision Effects DE:Noise filter, which has an FCP version: http://www.revisionfx.com/products/denoise/
Graeme Nattress sells some noise reduction plugins for FCP as well: http://www.nattress.com/Products/BigBox/Bigbox.htm
I think Neat Video is pretty hard to beat though, personally.
As for the gamma, just use your scopes and whatever color correction tool you want (curves in AE, 3-way CC/Colorista in Final Cut, etc.) to get contrast back in your footage.

I asked this last week.
The above is what i got for response. Pretty helpful.
Unfortunately none really helped the footage i had, which was VERY bad.
hope that helps
