Why are these fests 10 pages or hell have a 6 page minimum?
The Film Fest has a maximum of 6 minutes/pages.
Why not write our screenplays in a way that may be used someday for the film fest? I am always hearing that the shorter the short the better chance it has to be made and seen.
So why not lower the max?

Its not a bad idea really, but i think the scripts can have useage lol beyond the film festivals here you know? 6 mins are fine for the dvxuser fests but many directors may want longer scripts too you know?

Yes, I know, but I figure they'd be compatible is all. :)

I agree.
I think the script and film fests should work hand in hand.
I would love to see writers and directors here work together more and each fest servicing the other would be amazing - some does happen.
But I agree if 6 pages would make them both "compatible" I'm all for it.
Go me being a writer. The most important think is to get work made for show reels.
There are a lot of talented writers and film makers here. Would be great it each could "feed" the other and make end products they could both have to show their talents.
I do believe you can make a great story in either 6 or 10 pages. + we might all up our game if the scripts would get made at the end.

True, true.

We should do a kind of Secret Santa thing where we all take someone elses script and produce it into a short film.
Would be interesting to see how other writers perceive our work.
Fun to watch too :D

There are two different ideas here that are both awesome: 1) a script fest that would be produced by another user for the purposes of a DVXuser film fest, and 2) removing the limit on page minimums for your screenplay, so it's anywhere from 0-10 pages.
I'm for both.

Yay! Here is me thinking my 7 page script to be short in comparison with the others.
Ok, so I am new and have little of (tech) value to say... but I have loadsa common sense. Can't think why you guys haven't got round to script length/short film compatability before.
Ahhh... the wisdom of retrospection.

Nothing is stopping anyone right now from making a 6 page script, which would probably work for the DVXUser Film Fests, depending on producibility of course. I don't see a problem with eliminating the 6 page minimum. Keeping the 10 page maximum also allows more flexibility for the writer that isn't necessarily looking to have his/her script produced in a DVXUser Fest.
One of the biggest problems the writers and directors are having right now it getting their story to fit the 6 minute time frame. Too often they'll write an 8 page script, saying, "it'll work fine" and in fact it turns out to be too long so they must make cuts that often make the story incomprehensible.

Scriptfest 2 , actually had a 6 page limit and there were some really good scripts.

And after ScripftFest 2 we had this same conversation. Personally I like the 10 page limit because it lets us tackle different material than the film Fests. Stretch our wings in a different way so to speak.

Hi Blaine! Have you read The Patch-Up Kid? It's 6 pages and a stunner.
