I am in the market for getting a lower end camera to match shots with my DVX 100B, how comparable is the 24p LOOK of the Canon HV20.

HV 20 outshines the DVX if you shoot in 1080, so you shouldnt have much problems except that you may have to colour correct the rather blueish HV20 material. Learn how to shoot in almost manual mode with the JV20!

The HV20 shoots in SD too...should match.

the lack of professional manual controls is what keeps it from being a camera I would buy.

Your talking about 2 completely different cameras. You'll have a hell of a time matching HD with SD, not to mention the fact that the hv20 does not shoot 24p in SD mode.

You could shoot in HD, then uprez the dvx footage, but this will just be the start of your frustrating journey into the world of CC headaches while attempting to match un-matchable cameras.

My 2cents.
