This is NOT to say that the next fest will be either of these, OR that the results of the poll will determine the next fest. But, these are the two popular choices right now, and so we thought we would open it up to a poll for the next few days, so as to allow for additional member feedback and input into the process.
If these were your only two choices, pick one. The poll will close when voting closes on round two of LossFest as we will be announcing the next fest when we announce the winners as usual. This will allow us a little time to take the feedback from the poll into account along with what we are currently discussing.
So....
Quest or Crime.......
Here are a couple of rough blurbs courtesy of Jack to give you an idea of where we would be thinking of heading with either of these
Blackmail, robbery, the double cross, the con, or good old fashioned cold blooded murder. Rioting in the streets, knocking over a bank, or a lover’s betrayal up close and personal compliments of an arsenic tainted wine glass. Whether in the shadowy black and white streets of wise crackin’ dames and hardboiled detectives, in lurid color between the pages of an old pulp magazine, in the wild west, in outer space, in a board room, or in a bedroom, one thing’s for certain – a crime has been committed, is happening as we speak, or is just about to go down. Maybe your story focuses on the wrong side of the law – the crooks – yeah sure, and why shouldn’t it, they got their side to tell too. Or maybe you focus on those that try to prevent, fight, or discover what happened after things have gone south. Or, maybe it’s more complicated than that. Most of us are a mixed bag after all. How about a good guy that does bad things to bring about justice, or a bad guy that ain’t all that bad at the end of the day. In any event, your story centers on breaking the law – past, present, or future - and must involve criminals, cops, or both in DVXuser's Crime Fest.
Don't be afraid to dig deep. This can be more than just about getting away with murder (which is fine). But it's also OK to ask what's REALLY at stake? What does it mean not only in terms of material gain but emotionally, personally and / or psychologically to your characters if they fail or succeed? What are the politics and personal relationships like in a gang of crooks, a squad of cops, or even between cops and criminals?
There’s something out there. Something virtually unobtainable. Something your protagonist needs despite the incredible odds and obstacles that stand in his/her way. They may need help along the way from new allies, but careful those allies don’t turn out to be wolves in Grandma’s clothing. Whether it’s sacred scrolls hidden in the land of the living dead, the phone number of that certain someone, a brain, a heart, a highly guarded diamond, a smile from an embittered friend – whatever it is your characters need more than anything else – their journey begins at DVXuser’s QUEST FEST.
Don't be afraid to dig deep. This can be more than just about getting through booby traps in an unearthed temple (which is fine). But it's also OK to ask what's REALLY at stake? What does it mean not only in terms of fame and fortune but emotionally, personally and / or psychologically to your characters if they fail?

Jason
