there's a small area in the bottom left corner of my frame that is harshly lit. the camera was on a tripod and no actors ever cross in front of the area. Will I be able to shadow this one tiny area in post, making the harshly lit area, less harshly lit.....more shadowy perhaps
how is this accomplished?

You can certainly do that. I would export a frame, open it in Photoshop, do your adjustments, place it over the original in AE, and mask off the region to keep, adding a little feather. Use the Match Grain filter on it with the original footage as the sample.
Should be easy peasy.
Posting a grab would help.

thanks...Ill try and post a grab.
So things like a paint chip on a wall, or a some other bit of ugliness within a frame, these little unsightly blemishes can be removed by correcting just one frame? thats pretty cool
I use speed edit as my NLE. I'll check if AF is compatible.

I have had a ton of great results using that method. Matching grain is the hardest part.
You can also get nice results with moving footage, using motion tracking. Barrel distortion can sometimes need to be faked, as will producing similar motion blur, but for slow pans and such it is really easy.
