I was filming a school project with my friends and after playing back a little bit of the footage we had, we went outside and tried to start filming from there. My friend switched the mode to CAMERA but the lcd just remained black. It had been awhile since I charged, so I just assumed I needed to recharge my battery, but when i plugged in the camera, nothing happened; no red blinking light on the underside of the HV30.

i tried the charger at home after a few hours and the camera started charging like normal. I switched it on the CAMERA mode, fiddled with the settings, then turned it off for a moment. I tried turning it on again and once more it just sat there dead. A few minutes later I tried turning it on again and the red power light blinked on, but the LCD was still black and nothing else was working.

The camera wont spit out my tape either. It's basically dead, with random spurts of the power light coming on when i switch it to CAMERA mode. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what is going on?

I've already tried resetting.. nothing. i'm guessing my battery's dead but the thing is, i got this camera in November and used it maybe 6 or 7 times. is that long enough to need a battery replacement? :(

First thing I'd try to eliminate is: Is it a battery (power) problem or is it a camera problem? Try to plug in an AC adapter (or did you say you tried that already?) without the battery. If you still get no boot up, then it's time to think repair service since that means it's a camera problem.

i tried without the battery. it worked for a little bit but once i turned it off, the camera stayed off after that. So yes, it's a camera problem unfortunately. I can't possibly imagine what I did wrong to make the camera go haywire like that..

but i'm noticing that the camera works briefly only after i let it sit for a long time before trying to get it to work again.
