Hey, I'm going to check out a used DVX100 tonight via Craigslist. It is a regular dvx100, not a or b as far as I can tell. It's selling for $900 which I thought was pretty good. Do you think I could get any lower? It's got 100 hours on it.
What do you guys think I should check for? Are there any common problems I should know about beforehand? Obviously check the lens and obvious functions like record, playback, etc... but anything particular to this camera that I wouldn't think of. I'd really appreciate the help, first time user here.

That's much less than normal price. I recently sold one for about $900. It had 400 hours, no second channel audio input and no firewire out (both busted). Buying from some guy on Craigslist gives you no protection, but you can only decide if he's real or not by meeting and speaking to him. I recommend you insist on going to his house to pick it up, as well, and that you pay by check with a memo. The second will show that you paid him, the first will make sure you know where to go if something goes wrong.
Those said, I've been hoping to find buyers for my equipment on Craigslist. I'd be willing to sell them a little bit less for the convenience of a quick local sale and the lack of need to deal with shipping it. A lot of people need to get it over with due to sudden economic changes, so it may well be fine. We can't know just from that information. Not without at least talking to the guy.
