I can not capture in premiere from my dvx100b. i am running CS4 & Vista. when i go to capture the video comes in all choppy, with little spots and artifacts. then when i try to capture it drops lots of frames. so here is what i've done to try to isolate the problem:
i am able to capture with no problem (same tapes & same firewire cord) on my sony handycam in premiere.
i took the dvx100 to a friends and was able to capture with no problems on his system in final cut.
the video plays back perfectly on my tv from the camera through the RCA outs
i'm importing the footage as DV NTSC which is how it was shot
so what the heck is my problem?
the camera works on another system. the tapes, cord and software all work with another camera. so it has to be some problem with the dvx100 and my computer communicating. i reinstalled my video card and still no fix. please help, i don't know what else to do and i've got projects due all month long.
i know i could just buy a playback deck, but i'd really like to fix this.
thanks for any help
more info: i just tried to import the video using window video importer and it does the same thing.
