Just sold my Indian Follow focus and moved up to Redrock's new one. I've used quite a few of the higher end FF's and knew that the indian one had to go at some point. I'd tried a friends older Redrock and thought it was a fair up-grade for the money but I wasn't sold . When the new one came out it looked like a lot of design had gone into it so I jumped in. I love this thing. The play is next to nil (really). It has the feel and movement of a FF 3 times the price, $545. The new quick mount is awesome. It clips on and off the rails in seconds and everything else can stay put. The finish is very pro. I'd love to see a new FreshDV FF review with this in the running. One last thing is I didn't know the marker ring was magnetic, but it is and I'll have to order an extra to have one on hand. I love the large 3D shape of the marker ring. Such a deal in my mind!

Wow. THe production version of this sucker looks a whole lot better than my prototype. Jealous!
But, I love it all the same. Congrats on the new purchase. Always use mines and it's been a pleasure. GLad to see these are shipping and now we can talk about them!

Too bad RedRock still hasnt made it so the the gear can be moved so if you can use it on a smaller lens. (Because the gearbox runs into the adapter).
Only thing i like about this is the 3d marking ring.

FourLinkSun, I'm curious what size lens you mean? I can reach all my lenses , my Zeiss 50mm being the smallest.

I mainly use a Pentax 50mm (sometimes my 28mm), but both are short and the gearbox hits the lunchbox, so the gear barely grabs each other.
Also, what if you are pulling focus with your right hand and you have a mattebox? Same problem occurs.
I dont know why redrock doesnt just make their own gearbox or source a T-gearbox.
IMO, for a ver2, its lazy for the RRengineers to stick with this (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=43541&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=GEARBOX&doy=16m8)instead of trying to improve the 'meat' of the FF.
Off Topic Rant, but if Cinevate ever decides to ship out their FF, that would be the pinnicle of FF engineering.
Can you use this FF with a 100mm macro Zeiss ZF lens ? I would say no because the gear has a standard width and the Zeiss's focus barrel moves about 2cm when full extended.
I own a Zacuto FF unit with the optional "wide" gear and it barely catches the lens barrel.

Using the redrock gears and the stock gear on the FF it will allow over 3cm of travel. I tried it on an old Yashica zoom that moves when focusing. So you should be ok with the Zeiss if all you need is 2cm
