Okay, I am feeling the market out here. I have a syllabus in place and most if not all props for this class.
I am considering on teaching a class/seminar on proper weapons handling, safety and usage for indy film. In the So Cal area or even from outside So Cal, how many would be interested? The cost would be marginal, maybe $100 for a full day's training? Haven't quite settled on what to charge, but it won't be much, since I have fun doing this, and it's not "work" for me. I would just need to cover a few costs (lunch, venue, a couple extra staff instructors, etc.). This could be tailored for an individual production, as well, specific to the weapons used in it.
When I go on set of an indy and they know I am a weapons handler, I always end up training the cast on weapons, with really good results, usually. Depends on the actor.
Some of you have seen what I did for "Gig", 2008 UCLA Film Fest "Best Drama". So I do know what I am doing on this. I have had extensive training with both the real thing and with props.
So what do you think? I just want to see if this is worth it or am I wasting my time. I am not advertising the class here.......yet, as I don't have a location yet, but I want your feedback.
