Well I launched the Adaptimax adaptor just over a week ago and the first batch sold out very quickly. The good news is the second batch are now in my hands and although a good chuck of the batch have customers names on them, there are some still available.

This is not a 35mm adaptor like the Brevis, Letus, Redrock, SGBlade, Cinemek etc. There is no ground glass or moving parts. But it does allow Nikon lenses to fit directly onto a Sony PMW-EX3.

Because there is no glass, there is no loss of edge sharpness, and of course you can stop down as far as you want. So what is the point of it?

It doesn't replace a 35mm adaptor, it compliments it. When you use a 35mm adaptor, a 50mm lens is a 50mm lens. On the Adaptimax, a 50mm lens suddenly becomes a 270mm lens. A 200mm lens becomes a 1080mm telephoto lens, and a 400mm lens a whopping 2160mm Super telephoto.

So with the Adaptimax you can get shots which are impossible with the stock EX3 lens. Those wildlife shots you have tried to get (and failed because even on full zoom you are too far away) are now available to you for a very small outlay.

And if you have macro lenses you can get extreme closeups as well. A customer emailed me to say he was overjoyed when he filled a frame with 17mm x 25mm.

I have priced the Adaptimax so that it is available to all. It's an adaptor you can carry around in your kitbag and bring it out when you need it to get that certain shot.

Much more info in the link below.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=163208 -- And here's the other thread that goes with it. Lots of good discussion there for those interested.

Definitely a product worth adding to the arsenal along-side a 35mm Adapter because, as stated by Steven himself, it doesn't do the same thing by any means, but is very cost effective and allows you to do some serious telephoto work without having to spend the money on crazy telephoto lenses. Definitely a worthwhile product if adaptimax also considers a "pin" upgrade to control lenses that have no aperture rings.

The Tokina 11-16mm comes to mind! =D

Again, not a replacement but even I'd get one to have in the kit if I had an EX-3.

Thanks for the positive post Kholi. I went out today with a 300mm Nikon and took some shots of some people the best part of a mile away and could see what newspaper the man was holding. A bit too windy though and the shot is not good enough to use.

We have just taken delivery of our second batch as the first load went in no time. It's certainly proving very popular. The "pin" is being worked on.
