I just bought one for cheap on ebay, instead of waiting for a 1.8 and paying $30 more.

I would have gone with a pre ai 50mm 1.4 . You can get them for pretty cheap also.

and are you sure it's not a 50mm?

err 50mm, thats what i meant. I have no need in tightening the depth of field to inches.

can i still generate a solid bokeh behind the talent? How about a f3.5 28mm?

A 50mm lens on the adapter gets pretty short DOF so if you mean the background is going to be out of focus then the answer is yes, provided that the BG isn't right behind the subject. That's usually not what you should be worried about. Slower lenses=less light coming in when you need it.

I shot my loss fest entry with the LEX and a 55mm 2.0. I have a 50 but the 55 looked better for what I was doing at the time.

I use the 50 1.4 for almost everything.

does the .6 difference between an f2 and f1.4 really tighten up the depth of field?

it's one stop difference, so it doubles it.

thats the answer I've been looking for. Ill play with my Nikkor f2 when it arrives and see if a lower depth of field is a need or not.
