Here are some Solidworks renders of my rod support system. The only fasteners shown right now are shoulder bolts for the camera support. More of the tiny details will come later just for looks but I would like to get the main design done before doing this. This is about as far as I can go with the design for right now until I get my 35mm adapter. It will be used with my DVX100B. Let me know what you think. I got the idea the camera support design from pictures I saw of the Cinevate Proteus because I wanted to have the height adjustable without using stupid spacer shims. As soon as I get my 35mm adapter, this will be made. The nice thing about the design is that everything can be water-jetted as opposed to spending the big bucks for CNC. Here it is:

When you start building this, start building 2 at the same time!
I requested it first!
Now this is really something that can go into mass production from the shimless design. The thing is.....
are the rods going to be grooved like the handle bars on a bike? because I'm thinking that after adding a monitor and a few things to the camera, I wouldn't like for it to all colapse like a pancake and snap the adapter off and etc.....
well you know what I mean.
Overall it's looking good, but also when I look at picture number 2 it looks like the back end or the front end can swing down.
what is going to prevent that besides making sure that it's very tight!
Either way I want to see the progress.
til next time,

I think if you added twist knobs at the 4 joints, that'd be cool. You could get it all positioned and then just tighten it all down.

Luis, thanks for the interest! It is possible that I could make a limited number of these if people are interested. I am not sure if Cinevate has a patent on the shimless design so I will have to check. As far as the tilting/movement of the camera platform, there is going to be knurling on the pivot points so as to help with the friction of the clamping. When the diagonal clamps clamp to the pivots' knurling, they won't go anywhere.
DM, it will use twist knobs. I ordered them from Zacuto so they will be the same ones found on the Zacuto rod support clamps. I was just going to use allen cap head bolts and a wrench but I like the idea of tool-less clamps. As far as the diagonal clamps for the camera platform, I haven't decided yet if I will use the Zacuto levers or not. I am not sure yet if the levers will give you enough leverage to clamp them hard enough. For sure you can get enough leverage with a wrench, but I would like to use the levers if I can. It all depends on how hard the diagonal clamps need to be tightened to hold the platform steady.
Thanks for the interest guys. There will be updates in the very short future!
