Hey guys,
I am gearing up to shoot my thesis film, but first I want to shoot a couple shorts just to get used to using a dof with the camera in our graduate program. We have 3 JVC GY-HD200U cameras. I work for a department on campus that has an HVX200 as well that I could use.
I guess first, I am wondering which camera would you guys suggest I use?
Secondly, to help with the dof look, should I go with a set up like the letus extreme or should I look into the JVC prime lens adapter. I am going to have to buy these items on my own (the school offers the cameras but not a dof adapter).
Just wanting some input so I can start making some budget plans.
thanks guys

Yikes! I would look into renting before buying an adaptor/lenses for a camera I didn't own.

Well, I plan to own at some point. Obviously if I bought the jvc pl adapter I would be forced to buy the jvc, but if i went with the letus dof adapter i could still buy the hvx if i wanted or the jvc... i need to find out if the letus will work with the scarlet (once it comes out- if ever)...
it seems the dof adapter is a safer buy bc it doesn't close me in on anything but i am just hearing so many horror stories about them that i am stinkin nervous to make the plunge...

Well, the prime lens adapter doesn't give you short DOF. Any lens that you put on there becomes ultra telephoto which is useless for a lot of situations.

As far as horror stories about the Letus, I have one and it's been working very reliably for over a year. Customer service is superfast if anything goes wrong. I sent mine in for an upgrade Friday and by Monday it was already shipped back out and on its way to me.
