The price is pretty good but I'm not too sure about the product...never heard of it...

any input?

Never seen it. Looks a lot like the original Letus 35. I'd stay away until you see more footage from different cameras.

Considering how much the camera shakes when throwing the focus on a 50mm lens in their footage I would certainly stay away from it!

I bought one on ebay the price is a little cheaper than at the website. I was also concerned about the footage. They said is was shot in about 20min without any set up. I took a chance and bought one, the price is great, and the good news is so is the adapter. I have only doing some tests with it but so far so good. The footage looks pretty good, no vignetting, and the edges are sharp.
Hope that helps.

filmhero can you post some of your test footage?

Hey dudes,

I actually went to the guy who makes the adapter's house here in Hollywood, and he let me test it out on my DVX. I was pleased with the image, and for the price-it simply can't be beat. The adapter is pretty portable and really doesn't require a support system to keep it up, the whole setup is clean and good to go.

The image is of course flipped, so you can either buy a flip-monitor, or jerry-rig your camera lcd like I plan on doing(you can find out easily how to do this, just search for it). I'm getting the adapter with my choice of the Nikon Non AI Mount on Thursday for $350. He makes them as they are ordered. I'll post some footage up as soon as I get it. Gotta get some lenses for it first, though.

Hope you guys found this useful.

-Jon

Both people that have apparently used this adapter have one post and just joined the forum. I would stay away.

I have a hollywood adapter, and I do not work with these guys. It is a good adapter for the price. Here is a link to a video that I did as a test. Just added music without any other editing. Just a video of me having fun with the adapter and family. http://www.vimeo.com/4032368 . I am not new to the forum, but don't post much. I have seen other adapters out there and this one does pretty good. I am not going to say it is the best I have seen, but for the price that you pay it is. Good luck.

Not sure if it was the intention of the video or not, but to me it looked like BAD vignetting and terrible edge to edge sharpness...

Yeah, i saw that as well. I was thinking about buying it because of its price (and it comes with a monitor) but now im a bit turned away : /

I don't want to seem like a hater or anything, but although I didn't notice any edge sharpness problems or vignetting. I also didn't notice any footage that looked like it was shot with a 35mm adapter. (although, it is hard to say for sure from the resolution of the footage).

Do you have any high res test footage with the adapter, showing the bokeh, edge to edge sharpness and vignetting or grain (or lack of)? As well as light performance? (ie. light loss)

Thanks

Thanks filmhero. It looks pretty good, you are right these guys and gals can be brutal. Self righteous indignation not a very good quality. Anyhow the footage looks good. I'm not here to promote the product blownproductions but go to the website check the footage out. There is no vignetting it has a nice bokeh and good edge to edge but you will find a problem with the shaking. well that's because a follow focus wasn't used and the footage was posted to see exactly what you stated you were looking for. But I'm sure you will be self righteous and find some inferior quality. The damn thing only costs $350.00 give it a break.

I got one a while back for an experimental film project we are about to launch. I was a little concerned when a strong smell of cigarette smoke wafted from the box when I opened it, but felt a little better after I tried it out. You will need to slow your shutter down quite a bit to get the grain to go away (especially in pans) but by and large it is pretty decent. Here's my first test footage:

Yeah, there's a typo on one of the C.G's......
I've used it a lot more since I posted that, and have gotten better with it. Not a bad rig for the price.
I'll be posting more about this project soon, right now we're pushing a bunch of deadlines and I can't do much.

^ ^^ I have to be honest... just for the sake of being honest. The footage looked really soft to me. Too soft... there was no sharp focus where it was supposed to be. I have been researching all the adapters and looking at tons of footage from all of them. This footage is less than impressive compared to the others that I've seen recently. I don't care what brand name, or no brand name, the adapter is that I buy. I just let my eyes make the decision for me. The best no name adapter that I have seen so far, is the RNG35 from the Octopi Films Guy in Utah.

ok... just asking b/c you share the same i.p.... i.e. the same person.

Find it kinda odd when several people join a forum and their only few posts are in a thread relating to a specific product, and some of them share i.p. addresses.

How do I reach Jarred Land? I sent him a personal message inquiring about the DV Shop and he never responded. Since I got you the administrator on the line. If figure you could help.

Jarred is busy building cameras. I am his vice president. I act on his behalf. Landmine Media Inc. (Jarred's company) owns and operates the whole of reduser and scarletuser. It also owns and operates dvxuser along with Barry Green.

That's what I thought.

Your attitude isn't winning you any favors. Nor is your use of multiple accounts.

The DVXuser shop is for dvxuser products and partners of dvxuser only. The upcoming landmine store will replace the dvxuser shop in the near future.

Answer your question?
