Dirty focus ring?

Hey guys,

I have an old 35mm(focal length not type) 2.0 I think and it looks great. Only problem is, the focus ring feels like there is gunk inside. It doesn't turn smoothly at all and when I finally get the ring to move it basically moves my entire camera haha. Any ideas on relieving this or am I forever screwed?

Well I would tell you to have it cleaned, but it's going to cost you as much as it would cost to buy a newer one. The grease is almost impossible to get a hold of, however there is a grease that radio shack sells that is very similar to the grease repair guys use.

What kind of a lens is it ?

Some of my old lenses started getting stiff. I managed to get most of them working again by just sitting down and turning the focus lens back and forth for 20 mins. I found it had good results on most of the lenses.

thanks guys. It's a nikon and I can't really risk anything because it's not my lens(not technically anyways). I'll try turning it I guess. It did start turning a little smoother after I used it for a while.
