basically, I am looking to buy a flip module from a friend but I have a homemade dof adapter & I was just wondering if anyone ever tried using them together? I'm guessing the basic concept would work but just curious as to if anyone did it, if there was any problems..etc..

by the way, its an sg flip so I'll probably have to use some kind of step up ring.

thanks 4 any input..

As a diy'er myself, i asked a while back another diy'er what the flip is made of, mirrors or prism cuz i had planned on adding that to my diy 35/midformat adapter.

The reply i got was that its a prism and that there was an attempt to diy using mirrors but there was light loss so i guess I'd skip it.

What did you make , vibrating or spinner?

thanks 4 responding teddyb..

I think u got what I was asking wrong.. I was asking about just using a "pro flip module" ala the SGflip with a homemade 35mm adapter. I mean, I'm pretty sure it should work the same but I just wanted to see if anyone tried it before I bought it .. (dont wanna waste money)

Its a vibrating one..

by the way dude, I have been checking this site for a while without posting and some of your DIY have inspired me.. without u even knowing.. pretty cool huh..

thansk again bro..

peace

The SG flip is two prisms. Theres no reason why it shouldnt work, the flip module does no magnification, so if your adapter works now, sticking the flip in shouldnt stop it working. Aslong as the gate/window inside the flip is big enough, theres no reason why it wont work. Just make sure you use proper DIY parts, get stuff CNC cut from aluminium where possible. Its fragile and expenisve, and it needs to be held and supported properly.
