I have a job that requires a 3D muscular human build, kind of like a superman/wolverine. The character will have a glass texture look to him, no clothes, hair, etc... I would make this character myself, but I only have 3 days and I'm the DP & editor on the shoot already.

Has anyone here used turbosquid for a commercial job ?
If so can something like this be used on a TV show and not have to deal with any legal issues down the road at the price that is displayed or is there something else I would need to purchase?
I would email them, but they aren't responding. If someone knows of another site to check out please provide a link...

You could also do it with Poser.

Never used poser, only maya. Can a poser file be brought into maya for animation, texture, etc..?

I think so, not sure about the rigging though.

I used poser once in tandem with InfiniD, to create a Silver Surfer. I did all the posing in poser, then imported it as a dxf, and it worked. If it will work with InfiniD, it will work with anything.

have you tried sites like turbo squid, and high end 3d, on squid you can probably get the model, most likely in max, you'll need to convery it to an obj, then go to highend and get a rigging mel script, you can probably get a good glass shader with caustics. good luck

twocik23, I might be able to whip you something up in Poser, I'll just check to see if they have licensing issues. It should translate into Maya without a hitch. Let me know via PM.

Why should there be a licensing problem... unless it's pirated. You buy the program, you use it for whatever.

Not the program, I know theres no licensing problem with Poser itself. Just the character base that I would use for it.

Only if he's blue, atomic, and called Dr. Manhattan. The character the O.P wants is made of glass.

Thanks guys for the information. I was able to postpone the project for a couple of weeks to work things out.
Yes that's totally up to you if you'd like to model it, if it's good enough I might even be able to get you paid. The problem is people here Florida don't understand how hard and time consuming 3D can be. I have a pretty decent background in 3D, but not with characters.

Ahem... I think I might have a better understanding than most.
