I'm trying to look for a thread that recommended not using a filter w/ a 35mm adapter. And I don't remember if it was referring to a UV filter or a polarizer. Anyone recall what was the actual recommendation or where the thread is?

I ALWAYS use a filter no matter what; MUCH cheaper to replace than a camera lens. I've vaguely recall where someone threaded a 35mm adapter achromat on a bit too tightly and ended up scratching their camera lens.
If you don't want to use a Skylight, Haze, or UV filter, you can find ones that are pure glass.
