I heard Slumdog's Danny Boyle used the SI-2k for this great film but i just saw a behind the scenes look at the making of it and didn't see the SI-2k but an HD camera that had a magazine stlye housing attached to the back (vertically) and it's not a Sony and the front just below the PL moiunt a body that is angle up 30 to 45 degrees.

did they use two HD cameas? anyone have insight on this?

If I remember correctly, they shot about 20% of the film on 35mm. That would explain seeing a camera with a magazine on it.

Ok, so according to IMDB, they shot 3-perf 35mm (on fujifilm) in addition to the si-2k with the following cameras:

its with gyro. All set is from German rental house Pille. Recording device was in backpack and cabel went thru sleeve

They enlisted Pille Film, of Wiesbaden Germany, to create a custom solution which included a gyro stabilizer for the base of the SI-2K Mini. Instead of using the traditional film-style camera body, they elected to use Apple Mac book Pro notebook, running Windows XP, for the recorders, and built them into ruggedized backpacks, to be worn inconspicuously. Stefan Ciupek, the show’s technical supervisor and additional camera operator, coordinated the design and modifications of the camera system with Wolfgang Damm of Pille, whose team worked around the clock to get the 2K Mini rigs built.

Pille assembled four units for the production, and by testing them in a sauna, determined that the laptops would have to be packed in dry ice so they wouldn’t fail in India’s intense heat. Once shooting began, the dry ice had to be reloaded hourly; the production required up to 45 pounds of dry ice daily.
