I am confused about some of the specs on the HF100. In the manual it states that the top shutter speed is 1/2000 but then it says that the max speed with the card is 1/500. I am wondering if the HF100 will only record at 1/500 and the HF10 will record to the flash memory at 1/2000.

Being new to video, on a camera such as this, would there ever be a need to go above the 1/500 shutter speed? It seems to me this would really degrade the quality of the video. I will not be using this camera for still images as I have other equipment for that.

perhaps you mis-read the manual? i don't see how shutter speed is a factor when it comes to writing data to memory.

aperture is what degrades picture quality, because at the extremes you typically lose resolution... hence the photog term "f8 and be there"

with cmos video cameras, tho, shutter speed can have an effect on how noticeable things like fast pans and rolling shutter are.
