I think I showed up too late for the puck. What happened? Something you tried didn't end up working?

Thanks for note Texanite.
Yeah, works great.
Shot some this morning with it.

Think 'breaks down to fit in a bag, can do three or four dolly 'jobs', and requires only two tools to set up.'

Boiled it down by reduction and LOTS of sketching/CADCAM!

I yanked the stuff posted here and the link to shots and footage.
Confess to being excited and premature- all at the same time! ha ha.

I've got a Rev. 2 on paper now.

Proto V1 is fully functional and fulfills the design requirement I set.
Rev. 2 (in my series) will go one step further.

Basically; V1 is interconnected PUCKS using threaded bar. (the "design principle")
A PUCK per corner, wheeled axle shaft attached to PUCK can rotate along the exterior circumference.
Each axle can have single or double wheels (track or trackless use).
There's three and four PUCK versions (3= small 'skater' type, 4= larger doorway dolly type).
*The 3 PUCK w/double wheels per axle runs track too.

Only, now I've devised a way to mount wheels within the PUCKS, with an optional exterior axle plate version (<--as per V1.)

It's back to the machining now... maybe in a weeks time....

Just getting better is all. (I'm confident you know the routine!)
I'll post a link to the crap I shot today (after the honey-dos get done....)

FWIW- I intend to make the plans available and also -if it all works out and there is interest- selling KITS (PUCKS only- you build from there, low & high grade 3 and/or 4 PUCK 'systems', or just the plans/parts lists.)

Please standby.

work in progress.
v.1

ask questions if you want.

6061 AC grade aluminum- stainless rod and hardware (except axle plate- galvanized).
v.2 on the CAD right this minute- going to CAM tomorrow morning.
it'll be pretty cool.

standby.

thanks Jason.

been working on V2 all week and it's probably going to be done this weekend.

i'll post more pix and footage soon after. keep an eye out here.

i think y'all will like the progression.
i'm quite impressed (and i'm building the dern thing).

the way it stands at the moment:

still the PUCK and threaded rod concept, but now it has two different kinds of 'inserts'.
• one is to produce the exterior (circumference circuit) axle and wheels (for single or double wheels- for flat surface work, or on tracks- either three or four corner set up).
• the other has the wheel concentric to the center of the PUCK- as found in typical 'skater' configs. with a locking knob.
*i even have a steerable version! but not done yet!

the PUCKs will have threaded holes in the 'ring' portion to receive the threaded rods, 30°/60° and 45°/90° angles. counter nuts secure them in place.
you set it up for three or four corners, drop the required 'insert' into the PUCK- and go from there.

i've found 1/8" aluminum plate to be the best bet now.
strong, light, malleable- easy to work with (drilling and stuff).

if there's interest (and i know it takes a lot to impress folks here), i'll make it available in a couple of forms (more to come on that).

please standby for further announcements.
film at eleven....
