Trying to get some footage back onto my P2 card. The P2 card is in my HVX, plugged in through firewire, in PC mode.
I am trying to use P2CMS to export the P2 footage from my external drive back to the P2 card, but when I select the P2 card as the destination and click export, it says that the P2 card is "read only."
How do I get around this?

Can you use the MAC Finder Window to do this?
eg . can Finder see the P2 Card and the ext Drive then transfer the P2 Structure across.

Tried that as well, but it still said "read only."

Just hooked the HVX200a up through USB instead of firewire, and it seems to be working fine. I just had to change from 1394 device to USB in the menu.
Menu -> PC mode -> USB device

Mac's tend to like USB from the HVX200a's and 200 though they can work through firewire. For the "read only" the card wasn't in write-protect was it or did that warning go away when you connected through usb?
Other options for going back to the P2 card are through FCP and setting up the HVX to record what's being played out. Also you can use a program like DVFilm Raylight (http://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac/index.htm) for Mac's P2 Maker to create a new P2 card from a DV/Dvcpro, Dvcpro hd or dvcpro 50 movie file.
Best,
Andy

Andy,
That's a cool way to record back to P2. I've been using P2 cards for a few years and have never tried that. Thanks!
Regarding FireWire vs. USB, I've had the exact opposite experience. My HVX200 always works with FireWire.

No the card wasn't in write protect. And yes the warning went away and everything copied just fine and dandy when I connected through USB.

If you use the Panasonic P2CMS program you can export material back on to the P2 Card directly. The latest drivers for Mac prevent writing to the card through finder.. but P2CMS seems to be able to. So just load up your footage in P2CMS, choose the clips you want on the card, choose export from the file menu, and then select your card as the destination.
Hope that works for you.

im just curious, why would you need to write BACK to P2 cards?
