I've been trying to export my CS3 timeline to the P2 card directly using "export to Panasonic P2" command. I can't get it to work. The timeline renders fine and appears to export it, but when I look in the HVX's thumbnail display or try to playback...nothing. Anybody else try this??

Hello,
Is there an icon for the clip you just created? Does it have a red X? Make sure you are in the right camera setting for viewing the clip ie if it's a 720p clip you have to be in 720p mode on the camera. Have you tried exporting to your computer's harddrive first then copying over to your HVX p2 card?
I haven't used the Export to P2 of Premiere, but DVFilm's Raylight (http://dvfilm.com/raylight/index.htm) has a P2 maker function and you have to select what size card you are making. Also copying over to a P2 card that has footage on it with a lastclip.txt already might confuse the camera. I would imagine they have to work the same because they are both going to P2.
Hope this helps,
Andy

What exact steps are you taking to do it? Detail, please.

Here's what I do and it works fine. Export your project using export to P2, set your output folder to desktop and render. Then format your P2 card in camera. When your export is done a folder will be created, it should be called "CONTENTS". Now conect your camera via USB or Firewire to your comp. Now replace the CONTENTS folder on the P2 card with the one you've just created... But do NOT remove the last clip file on that card. Should work fine!

Thanks for the replies so far, guys. I'll have to try some of those steps and get back to you on the results.

Is there a way to do this in FCP?

With FCP, you play it out to the camera from the timeline and record it.
