I mess with the two dials in the back and its weird, like during a shoot im adjusting the mic volume with them and if i turn the dial and bit it changes it to that bit, but as soon as the dials are half with in the middle or adjusted so volume is half way now, the change rate in which happens when i continue to lower the volumes changes a lot differently or faster.
anybody understand what im saying? It is hard to explain.

You might want to re-word that. It's going to be hard for anyone to understand.
do you want to say, that operating the dials does not in/decrease the sound linear to
the movement of the dials ?
thats right.

Yes and it's annoying...why did they make it like that? I actually preferred the dials on the DVX...accidental bumping and all.
when you find the soundlevel, did you switch of the limiter?

yeah guys thanks for the help out. It sucks especially when you are are at the concert trying to adjust ojn the fly the volume and its too loud and shaky to move the thing non-linearly...

Concert? recommend you use a mixer in front, much easier to control changes.

It's probably due to the limiter being on.. It takes extreme micro sized adjustments as it's way too dramatic to really move the dials.
The dials on the HMC150 are in such a better location and I don't miss the HVX layout in anyway... especially for handheld monitoring.. you actually have to pull off the cam to adjust and that just plain sucks. I'm glad they went back to this way for the 150.
How is the layout on the 170? I haven't had a chance to shoot with one yet.
