I have been messing around with my 5dm2 when i have time...

im excited to shoot some real projects with it...its got issues but for lower budget stuff i think it could work really well...and you can steal some locations easier with it.

I was messing around during a flight to a wedding...

and i was messing around with an anamorphic lens...
http://www.rich-lee.com/5DM2/anatest2_01small.mov

these were all shot with out any stabalization...ive been playing around with the redrock micro slr kit and it really helps knock the high frequency hand jitter down and makes for a much more solid frame.

very excited about the possibilities.

Looks great Rich. How about some details? What lenses and what was the music cut on the airport piece? Any post tidbits you would like to share would be great...

Can you use it without a tripod or stabilizer at all?

Thanks.

hey guys...so...

the airport stuff was shot on a 35mm f 2...all handheld obviously...color corrected in Color. With most of the 5d stuff i have been playing with i generaly always interpret it at 24...so it becomes a tad slow motion...which i like. also...the lens flares in some of those airport shots was done by smearing some nose grease on the lens filter.

the anamorphic stuff was shot on FD lenses ( i got an fd adaptor at BnH) with a century optics anamorphic adaptor...all of those shots were done with a 24mm FD lens and the anamorphic adaptor....the adaptor lends itself well to the wider lenses...but starts to get troublesome in terms of focus the longer lens you go...i tried it on a 50mm FD and you really have to stop the lens down allot to get focus.

Canon FD lenses are great because the glass is really nice and they are super cheap...and they are obviously all manual...and interestingly they have a nicer/smoother focus ring...i kinda like the FD ring better then some of my L series lens rings.

anyway, hope that helps...

Hi, new around here, but old to the 5d and 5D2

i posted a note on my blog the other day (http://planet5d.dyndns.org/~wikiuser/planet5d/Planet5d_Blog/Entries/2009/2/9_Microadjustment.html) about a new hack... i wonder if it will help do the video fix?

Wow Rich, love them both - can't wait to see more from you.

I'll be adding these to the 5D blog at http://planet5d.com We've got more 5D reviews/still/video samples than anywhere else on the planet.

the anamorphic stuff was shot on FD lenses ( i got an fd adaptor at BnH)

So you're using one of those adapters with a little lens built into it to compensate for the shorter focal flange that the FD lenses have? How do you like it? I've always been skeptical, not wanting to put an additional (and usually cheap) piece of glass in behind my lenses, but your results look good. You have a link to the one you bought?

Thanks

yesterday i had a short test with canon5d ... i shoot a half hour outside. more was not possible, its was to cold.. my hands a frozen.

you can see the result here

http://www.vimeo.com/3267210

the quality of the picture is great but the workflow is a nightmare.
the lcd is to small and with manual focus there is too much vibration.
i wait for a video-version of the canon 5d.

Hi,

Good looking shots.
Is the video option really that buggy as people say? What are the bugs?
