Please pardon my ignorance when it comes to shooting and editing HD. The truth is until this last week, I have never been asked to do so. Now I have picked up a client that wants material shot in HD for achiving purposes and then edited in HD, even though their products end up on the web.

I will be shooting in 1080 576i PAL on my Panasonic HPX502 and there appears to be no exact matching setting for editing that vision in FCP.

Could someone please tell me how to set up a project and sequence in FCP to suit for the editing side of things? Sure, I will be outputting from the timeline to a compressed version for use on the web, probably an
h264 Quicktime file, but I need to make sure all the settings are correct in FCP without guesswork.

If someone could point me in the right direction, even to a website that explains all this stuff, I would appreciate it.

Oh, I must also ask:

Is a G5 Dual 2.0ghz Mac with 4gb of RAM adequate for HD?

Thanks so much for your advice

1080 is hd, 576 is sd,

u can shoot dvcpro hd 1080i50, and make the easy setup the same first then make a new sequence, nothing to it, good luck.

on the progressive side, i don't know if you can go 1080p25 with your camera or not, but you can go 720p25.
