HVX200 footage and computer specs? HD

I shot a feature length film with the HVX200( 24pn 1080i) and my computer keeps stalling every time I try to render the entire film.(color corrected and epically in HD) It is about 4-5 years old. HP AMD 3500 with 2 gb memory! Also I think that is why when I render the movie in DV the audio sometimes is late or repeats.(very weird)

So, I have to get a new computer, but it has been awhile so I'm not although caught up with the new com specs.

I know people on this site have some powerful editing machines. Anybody have tips on a good computer that could render my whole movie in HD without crashing? This would be a big help because I want to see my film all altogether!!!

I have been looking at HPs with 8Gb memory, but you guys on here know more than I do, so your help would be great. HP - Pavilion Elite Desktop with Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9300--would this do the trick? Is it all about the memory? what is the most important feature on the computer for HD rendering and high end video production?

thanks everyone on this site for helping me make my movie!!! I have asked alot of questions over the summer(about filming with the HVX200) and because of you guys my movie is finished and ready(well almost ready) for people to watch with family and friends! I couldn't have done it without this site!

I would go with the Apple MAC desktop if you can. Depends on your editing software I guess. But I've been doing 720p on my Mac Book pro with FCP and it works great!

This is the question i was looking for an answer for long time. I am a pc guy like you samyork21 , but i realise that display card also matters. I have no idea,some people say corei7's 4 gaming so i am checking xeon cpu's at the moment, by the way my budget is around 4k. Nvidia quadro cx is the card i want because i use premiere cs4..:(

Any opinions will be great..

I've never used premier. I run both mac and PC's in my shop but for editing have always been MAC. Used to always be running Avid,however the FCP suite can't be beat (for 1200.00 US) for price and features. The fact that I can run FCP on my Mac Book Pro is still amazing to me--I'm cutting 720p on location while we are shooting.
