View Full Version : P2 media - long clip imports lose sync

We are importing long interview clips from P2 to FCP, and at about 25 minutes in the imports lose sync and the video gets clipped.

We've checked the P2 media with P2 playing software and it's fine.

Does anyone know, is there a limit on clip length for P2 imports? And if so, is there a solution to this issue to get the clips into FCP?

Many thanks for any assistance!

There is no limit - I have imported clips of 90 minutes+ with no issues.

Are your sample rates matching in your clip and in your sequence setting?

Thanks for the posting Will.

The sample rates are the same in the clip and sequence.

However this problem occurs before we cut anything into a sequence, just playing it in the viewer after importing it goes out of sync about 25 minutes in. It does it both in the viewer and if we cut it into a sequence, so it seems that whether the clip and sequence sample rates match is not the problem.

We can manually re-sync it, but something ain't right.

Frustrating.

What video format are you using to edit? ProRes? DVCPRO-HD? Other?

We are shooting 720p 24fps on the HVX200 which I believe is DVCPro HD compression.

Yesterday I got a tip from a user on the Apple forums suggesting unchecking "remove advance pulldown" in the import preferences. This fixed the problem of the footage speeding up. Whew!!!

Now however it's coming in a few frames out of sync.

Obviously this is not a huge problem as we can slide the tracks manually, but I'd like to figure out what's causing that because something is obviously still not right.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks.
