I need to give a transfer house a file from FCP to turn into a HDCAM tape for projection. Can I just export a quicktime movie?
thanks

If you're going to HDCAM, you just have to output a quicktime movie, in the proper codec, at the proper size that it was shot\edited in. There's a lot of DSS in LA, I'm actually interning at Alpha Dogs in Burbank. I know they could probably have it done for you pretty quick, and their prices are pretty competitive.

thanks Josh, I am getting it done in boston. but I am dropping off and then leaving town so I want to double check here they will get what they need. The conversation I had with them today concerned me a little.
One more basic question I am not sure about. I shot on an hvx dvcpro-hd 720pn. the footage is 960x 720 in the timeline and so will it be in a quicktime movie export. will I need to compress to 1280 x 720 for it to project in the proper aspect ratio (16:9) or can I just give them the 960x720 quicktime movie and it all gets sorted out in the conversion?

Talk to them. They will be doing the output so you really need to ask them "what do you need from me?"
DO NOT recompress as 1280x720.
