Extracting Video in FCP

I am working on this project for a buddy of mine and he gave a some home videos that were recorded onto DVD-R. Am i able to extract the video with final cut pro, or motion? If you have any ideas all help will be much appreciated.

You'll need something like MPEG Streamclip, which I've used with a lot of success. It's a free download, and pretty simple.
