I just got a used HVX200 and when I'm zooming out it feels like it may be a tad slower and a lot noisier, just has a strange pitch to the sound. Didn't know if this is a common problem or maybe my imagination. I've also got an HVX200a and don't have this issue.

yeah, i have this same problem with a new 170...it's definitely distracting and gets picked up by directional mic attached to mount. the only way to avoid it is to do a slow zoom. but for the type of shooting i do, this isn't really a feasible fix.
i sent my camera in for repairs for some other noise issues, but also asked them to check out this problem too...i'll let you know what i learn.
