...or let`s promote EF and pro video mode in 5d mark II, but when it comes to ask for 24p they will tell you that camera is made for still photo.

Twixtor (or time remap) is used on heavy fire( just to hide the 30p cadence) , macro shoots are the only sequences where 30p is playing real time(same reason).80% of video is slow mo/fast mo, is this in camera option?

Is just a well made video, by someone that understands the limitations of 5d but wants to promote it as pro gear for videographers.

Just decide Canon what boat are u in.

Agreed!

It's BS of canon to promote this professional tool beyond it's photo mode, and all along cripple all the manual controls that one has on still mode on their video mode. Let's face it, the 1080p mode has taken front seat on the Mark II. Vimeo in just two months is flooded with hundreds of pages of footage from the Mark II. People are using nikon and other 3rd party lenses rather than Canon's glass. How embarrassing can this be for Canon's lens division which is massive; to see their number one competitors glass on their brand new top of the line DSLR. I bought a Nikon to EOS and M42 to EOS adapter. Also, funny how the Canon's DSLR division likes to say, ""yeah that video mode is just some side feature"". Acting all along like it's a nothing. Then to see Canon do heavy promotion of that ""nothing"" video feature in adds, web as well they put it in the hands of well known pros to use it so in return it generates press for Canons new Video feature on the Mark II.

Sounds like Canon has A Jekyll And Hyde Complex at the moment............

I own one and love it despite the crippled video.

That said, I flat-out loathe Canon's BS stance about the video mode. It's a straight up insult to withhold basic manual control in video mode.

I've always held off buying Canon cams because I own all Nikon glass. Can someone tell me if using the Nikon to EOS adapter has any detrimental effects to the image or functions of the lens that will not work like AF etc.?

using nikon on the 5d for video is great - you can control aperture unlike canons own lenses !

for stills work not so cool - dark viewfinder at small apertures and AF is lost

those zeiis will be great with the 5d for video

the adapter just change the focal plane of the lens. What makes possible to adapt Nikon lens on Canon bodies, but not Canon lens on Nikon bodies

I have a love/hate thing with this camera.

Here are a couple of 5D2 grabs from a recent shoot using both the 5D2 and a HVX for interviews. (5D2 was for close ups)

We used a Nikon 200mm F2 on the Canon. I snapped the pics of the set with my iPhone.
