This will be my first DVX fest entry. Title is "Speechless." We will be shooting on Red One. I had been waiting for Scarlet all last year and would have never dreamed that I'd actually get to shoot on Red. I got real lucky with the DP who's agreed to let us shoot his with new brand new Red, build 17.

We also have a great pool of talented crew on board. Just finished casting the roles last night and have some amazing actors.

Production date is set for Feb 7th.. More details soon..

Just finished production on the shoot. Long day, but we got the shots we needed. My first Red shoot, will be posting some photos and screen grabs soon. This was a fantastic experience for me. My editor and I will have a lot of learning to do on grading and editing Red code raw. We shot on a build 17 in 4K.

Things learned: don't try to cram 50 shots in a 12 hour day, even if most of them are super short, simple MOS shots.

All our cast and crew were volunteer. Ideally, I'd like to go back for a 2nd day and do more coverage of the scenes, but we should be able to make it work from what we got today.

Oh man. Another RED short. I'm feeling really small right now. All feelings aside, I can't wait to see it.

I had planned on shooting this on my DVX back in December, but was extra fortunate and lucky when I met up with a DP who offered his Red up for shoot.. Everything else fell into place when Red was secured. It was a fanastic experience shooting with the Red and the professional and talented cast and crew we had. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with.

Looking forward to seeing the final product myself... We still have a lot to learn in the post phase of editing 4K Redcode RAW files.

I hear two things about the RED that makes it attractive and repulsive at the same time. And believe me I would not hesitate to say "YES" if someone offered to shoot my short with a RED.

This is what I hear from close (DPs I know), very experience folk. It makes pretty pictures, but its a bitch in post if your equipment is not up to par. Also, its known that you need to carry two of these babies around in case one goes down the buggy path. So, reliability is not its strong suit.

I'd like to hear your experiences on the set and in post.

I am very sad to say that due to sound and music complications in post, we were not able to complete this film in time... My first entry, first Red shoot and it is past due :-(
Lessons learned for the future.

We will finish it up before the end of March. I will post out a link for anyone still interested. Good luck to rest of the submitted films. It's time to watch and judge.
